Navratri means nine mesmerising nights of delicious food, dancing and celebrations. While you’re getting your saris and chaniya cholis ready to perfection, polishing those stunning chandbaalis, it is essential to get things right in the makeup department as well. All you beginners out there who are clueless about how to get your face ready before a dandiya night out, you don’t have to worry anymore because we bring eight easy steps to help you get your makeup on fleek and be selfie-ready for the festivities.

Step 1

Prep your skin with a good moisturiser and then apply a primer. A primer simply makes your makeup application easier and will also make it last longer especially with all that intense dancing.

We recommend using the L’oreal Paris Base Magique Primer as it is does a great job at a pocket-friendly price.

Step 2

Using a foundation brush, apply a foundation that is the perfect match for your skin all over your face to even out your skin tone. You can opt for a foundation that gives you medium to heavy coverage depending on your skin’s requirements. Cover any blemishes that cannot be covered with foundation using a concealer. Don’t forget to conceal your under eyes too.

We recommend using the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation and Concealer. Remember to pick out a concealer for your under-eye region that is half a shade lighter than your foundation colour to brighten and lift the under-eye area.

Step 3

Powder that gorgeous face of yours. Unless you set your face with powder, your foundation and concealer will continue to move. Blot some powder on to mattify your skin to perfection, especially on your T-Zone area to avoid looking shiny and greasy later in the evening.

We recommend using the Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder for this.

Step 4

Use a peachy/bronzy blush and apply it above your cheek bones. Don’t go crazy dipping your brush in the product. Start by taking a little product, go easy and build the colour slowly or else you’ll end up with a bright coloured patch on your cheek.

We recommend using the Inglot Freedom System Face Blush. The Inglot blushes are super silky, pigmented and extremely easy to blend.

Step 5

Highlight your face ladies! This festive season is all about that glow on the high-points of your cheeks. Use a fan brush for a more precise application. This is one step you should not miss out on before you head out for your dandiya night.

We recommend using the Lakmé Absolute Moon-Lit Highlighter as it really does wonders to your face.

Step 6

It’s time to get your eyes right. Apply a striking gold eyeshadow all over your eyelid. Take a bronze eye shadow and give your eyes an outer corner definition. Define the eyes by applying the darker eye shadow along the crease, from the inner and outer corners of your eye to the centre. Draw a little feline flick line along the top lashline and finish the look with generous coats of waterproof mascara.

We recommend the Maybelline Nudes Eyeshadow Palette, L’Oreal Infallible The Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner and L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara.

Step 7

Thick full brows have been in for quite some time now and they are here to stay. They aren’t just for people with naturally thick brows like Cara Delevingne. You too can get fuller brows using a simple brow pencil. Bush out your brows using a spoolie end brush and then brush them evenly. Drawing gentle dash like strokes in the direction of your natural hair growth, fill in your brows using your brow pencil. Set the brows with transparent mascara.

We recommend the NYX Micro Brow Pencil. It comes with a spoolie end brush making it easier to brush your brows and spread the product evenly too.

Step 8

If you can’t get your eyes done perfectly, focus on your lips! Make them the star of the look by adding a pop of colour on them. Go for brighter colours as a good choice of a lipstick colour just lifts the whole look and can completely transform you. Line your lips with a lip liner and fill the entire lip with it to prevent your lipstick from bleeding, and make it last longer. Apply a coat of lipstick on top of it.

We recommend you to go for a ravishing red lip colour that will look stunning with the gold eye. Use the NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Hot Red and the L’Oreal Paris Collection Star in Pure Rouge Lipstick.
