Lakme Fashion Week 2016: Layers, Layers, And More Layers At Doodlage
Anti-fits, layers, and quirky prints seem to be the defining trends this season or so we’ve learnt from the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016. And we have yet another collection paying tribute to the said trends, in its own way… Doodlage. Designer Kriti Tula recently showcased her new collection titled Hopscotch, which is specifically for the child in every adult.
Kriti chose to go upcycle this time around making garments out of fabrics and yarns like corn and banana fabrics discarded by garment manufacturers. The collection expressed quirk through block patchwork which was surprisingly subtle, thanks to the soft colour palette of beige, fawns and nudes. Though black and earthy tones of blue and red did make their presence felt strongly.
The common element across the entire range of solids, stripes, prints, and also a combination of them all, was the multi-layering that stayed consistent. Boxy jackets over tunics, shirt dresses over midis, crop tops over tunics; the layered squad was all over.
From an entire lot of easy-breezy silhouettes, we had not one but two favourites — the grey patch-worked midi with leggings and jacket and the grey-red separates, again teamed up with a jacket.
